Who is North Coast Ride
My Story: 30 Years on Two Wheels
I’ve spent three decades leaning into corners and chasing horizons, but my heart always pulls me back to the North. There’s a specific magic to Northern Michigan; the way the air cools when you hit the lakefront, the smell of the pines in the Jordan Valley, and the rhythm of the backroads that the generic GPS apps always seem to miss.
I started North Coast Ride because I was tired of "top ten" lists written by people who had never actually smelled the fresh Lake Michigan air while riding the coastline. I wanted to create something that felt like a local friend handing you their personal notebook.
The Local Perspective
My routes aren't built in an office; they’re built in the saddle of my 2019 Honda Shadow Phantom. Whether it’s a sunrise run through the Tunnel of Trees, a quiet moment on the Sturgeon Bay dunes, or a quick hop across the Ironton Ferry, these are the rides I actually do.
When you ride a North Coast route, you’re getting:
The Ground Truth: Realistic timing, fuel stops that actually exist, and the "road quirks" only a local knows.
The Soul of the North: I skip the tourist traps in favor of the winding two-lanes and the quiet places that stay with you long after the kickstand is down.
Technical Simplicity: I still provide the PDF and GPX files, because the less time you spend staring at a screen, the more time you spend in the wind.
My Promise
No fluff. No generic brochure copy. Just honest, well-scouted routes that celebrate the ride as much as the destination. If you see a Shadow Phantom out on the coast, pull over and say hi… I’d love to hear where your road is taking you.
